This allows any air in the system to accumulate at the top, effectively reducing the usable size of the heater core and present symptoms similar to a plugged core. On the 2012 Dodge Avenger with the 2.4L engine, the labor time guide calls for 4.6 hours to replace the heater core. This labor time does not include the time needed to recovery or evacuate & recharge the AC System. If you are going to recharge the system after heater core replacement, this adds another 1.4 hours to the labor.Apparently the way the heater core sits behind the dash creates slush in the antifreeze.
