If it is still fighting you, use some heat on the hose. Replace the entire valve cover. IMHO every 1st gen 1.4L needs the valve cover replaced at some point.

You don't need to remove those hoses to remove the camshaft cover. It's just annoying. It only really pertains if you have a lot of oil in you intake/charge pipe.
