I personally went with a y38 brz diff since it's more updated and cheaper to source and its also the same assembly the only thing you might have to with the brz LSD is either 1. Get the 2 bolts that hold the brz lsd because the is300 diff bolts don't fit 2. Sand down the is 300 diff bolts or 3. Swap the bushings on the assembly.

The stock IS300 bolts mounting the diff are flared but the FRS diff uses regular bolts. The solution is to grind some of the material on the inside of the where bolts mount on the diff to get the flared bolts to fit. But you can also just use the stock FRS diff bolts if you get them and its a direct swap.

Frs/brz diff were majority 4.1 but also came with a 4.4 option and i had read somewhere they had a special edition that came with a 4.7 diff or something like that. Not 100% what the ratio was, but was a decent amount higher ...
I just bought a 2002 IS300. My cars VIN number shows no LSD on the Lexus website, but the axle code in the door says otherwise (BO3B). I've looked underneath the car and cant find any indicator on the diff, I think its covered up with gunk or fell off.
