He is very knowledgeable and uses real life examples when teaching. Weekly homework wasn't bad, one big group project, 2 Exams each with a take home essay. I thought his grading was fair, this isn't high school its a college class designed to prepare you for the real world. Lastly, all this information at the end of the day is arbitrary. A student's personal learning style, topic interest, study habits, and other miscellaneous preferences will usually determine whether or not they like a professor. I happened to like a professor with a 1.3 rating on RMP, but it's easy to see the average response is not favorable. Professor Speck is an incredible UGS Professor that helps first-year students get exposed to life at UT. I took his UGS class in Spring 2023. He gives very wonderful lectures and life-long lessons that help us prepare for future success. We have the choice of choosing any 5 out of the 8 think sheets, term projects, and 3 tests with essays.
