My old Rossi 92 had an OEM flat top rear sight and I switched it over to the new semi buckhorn that my 73 came with. I've seen a new 92 that came stock w/ that same semi buckhorn. My old 92 has a larger dovetail so my replacement semi buckhorn fits in the dovetail extremely loose. I just tightened down the set screw in the middle of sight.Sight Package. Personally, I favor shooting the Triple Black with open sights. Unlike other rifles in the R92 line that utilize a classic leaf spring and buckhorn rear sight configuration, the Triple Black has a peep sight ramp integrated into the back of the Picatinny rail. Loosen the set screw and move the sight up or down the ramp for elevation adjustment. Now I use this gun for CAS shooting and it is an octagon barrel version so it must have period correct type sites. I'm considering changing both the front and rear sights with 135 Small ivory bead front sight - Octagon barrel and 162 Bullseye Ghost Ring - Octagon barrel rear sights from Steve's Gunz site.

These were ladder loaded, beginning at the lowest listed starting load and working up to about mid range in 0.3 to 0.5 grain intervals. I used BERRY 240 grain JFP for most of the testing. All testing was done at 50 yards. bothmidway and brownells sell a replacement rear sight which will fit into the dovetail cut into the barrel. the marbles sights will give you a much better sight picture than the original buckhorn rear on the rossi. if you are satisfied with the existing sight picture, filing sharper steps into the elevator and removing the sight from the dovetail and bending it slightly down will suffice.

Just back from the range, shooting my Rossi 92 with new open fiber optic sights from Stevesgunz. Order of operations for a Rossi 92 owner: 1) CLEAN the gunk out. 2) Smooth sharp and / or burred edges inside and out AND/OR work the action 500-1000 times to wear in the parts. 3) Refinish or seal the wood. 4) Modify or change out the sights.
