Being a P220 Compact I believe it should still follow the P220 sequence. It should have a "G" prefix, and six digit number. In this case it has 7 digits, but no visible prefix.The P229 has always had at least 2-letter serial prefixes unlike the "German" serial numbers that had 1-letter: G (P220), M (P225), U (P226), B (P228). It is my understanding that a "U" as the last letter in a serial number prefix is an indication of an American made frame, like AJUxx xxx for a P229, and UUxxxxx for a P226.
