Some parts are expensive so ebay might be your best bet. I just bought a 1993 for $200. $300 is the max I would pay for that motor and the cheaper the better.

Re: 1996 Gamefisher 15hp Opinion?? No, you didn't pay too much. Those smaller engines are in demand and command premium prices. The 9.9 are most expensive because a lot of lakes have a less than 10 HP restriction. As far as parts: New ones may be difficult to find but there is a thriving market in used.

The impeller fins are straight when new, but they take a "set" from being bent over in the waterpump housing over time, normal, but not good. The impeller should be replaced every 2 years, or if you don't know it's age.

Same with reverse, and that's why It would either freeze in forward, or neutral and wouldn't shift out of it.
