Changing the recoil spring makes a huge difference. Because the compensator deflects some of the force, you can go a lot lighter and still be quite reliable. I tried a 7 pound spring but it felt sluggish in the return. 8 or 9 pounds is the sweet spot. No reliability issues with any ammo. I don't think the XC is worth the price tag. You're getting tighter finish and a integrated comp for 2k more than a P or C2. I personally sold my XC and got a P instead and carry a C2 daily. If you're not shooting it fast it's quite possible that you're missing the point of a comp. I own a number of double stack 1911's including a nighthawk TRS, staccato p and C2, Wilson combat EDCX9L. Also own a few shadow 2's and a cz custom a01-LD. None of them can keep up with an XC. BUT you have to shoot it fast.
