The LBG doesn't have enough ammo to finish the hunt even with good spareshot triggers so you have to rely on other shots. Slicing is a great secondary ammo but without being able to shoot while walking or reload while walking (I mean outside of the RF dragon shots, it doesn't have anything going for it) it's awkward.
Ideally I'd like a best dps ammo type, and a casual comfy ammo type to use. Spread is generally high DPS just like HBG if you can keep good uptime close to the monster, and you have a bunch of options for LBG (Spread 3 Evade Reload, Spread 3 Slow Reload, Spread 2 Normal Reload with larger clips, comes down to preference) Angbata11 has some info on their channel.
