The gel top coat in combination with the lacquer gives the soft gel structure and durability and the matte underside adheres much better to nail glue. If you are cutting or filing your proximal nail fold, this could be what’s causing the problem. Because this is living skin, clipping it will cause it to callus and grow back hard and cracked (this is because the skin is basically trying to defend itself).
