I agree you probably ovulated some time on day 12. Which means you have had sex at the perfect times if you did it on day 11 and then day 12. If you find that you consistently ovulate on day 12, a good regime for future months would be days 9, 11 and 12. My advice is always to hit the first smiley face day whatever else you do or don't manage.

It's new it's called clear blue advanced digital ovulation test. It gives you the 4 best days to have sex rather than 2 by measuring LH and estrogen. So the flashing smiley means you have high fertility and should have sex but continue to test until you the regular smiley which is peak fertility meaning you should have sex for the next 2 days ...
Usually get flashing smily for 3-4 days before peak, so usually from around day 10. You could test twice daily when you get close to ovulation (around day 12 onwards) just to be sure you don't miss your surge. Clearblue requires FMU but other tests, like internet cheapies work from lunchtime onwards.

Start too early, and you will get way too many empty circles/flashing smilies. Start too late and it goes straight to static. TBH, I would recommend you save your money and get the cheap easy@home strips from Amazon - you can upload the photos of the results in a few apps (free) that interpret them for you and tell you high, low or peak fertility.
