I kept finding the three gates and beartrap method on YT but it's a PITA how you only have a few seconds to get the placement of the fourth gate correct and if you make a mistake you're F'd. Tamed one with that method but lost a griff, wyvern and some otters.

Arrows are hands down the most efficient and quick method of doing so. 1- Far cheaper to craft, far cheaper to fix 1-2 ascendant crossbox than a single asc longneck. 2- Torpor stops being applied by time the gun has been realoded (longneck), thus wasting a lot of ammo when the gun lags the hell out, won't reload, etc.
